Quint Epsilon Chapter

Jersey City, NJ

In Spring 1990 three womyn made a myth a reality when they became a founding line for Lambda Tau Omega Sorority Inc. and brought the sisterhood on campus at Quint Epsilon Chapter. Glendalice Navarro Ortiz, Yesenia Hernandez Bauta & Miriam Contreras-Aguirre – a trio like no other sought to transcend everything Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. encompasses - independence, multiculturalism, strength and excellence …and started their legacy.

The following spring semester three more womyn pledged and crossed, continuing the trend of trios. Though the waters were tough at times, Quint Epsilon continued to make countless strides in empowering womyn. Quint Epsilon was known for their creative ways of fundraising, including their infamous and very successful car washes done at the campus Rec Center. Quint Epsilon Chapter Sisters held various events on an off campus, clothing drives, fundraisers, were part of the Hispanic Culture Club and helped create the First National Step Team for the organization.

Sadly, Quint Epsilon was the first chapter to suffer a tragic loss in the herstory of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. Erika Manrique pledged Spring 1997 and passed away at the age of 26 on March 11, 2004. It was a hard loss for the chapter and for the organization.
