The National Convention of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. takes place annually at a predetermined location and is organized by the National Convention Committee, whose members are active undergraduate and alumnae Sisters. The National Convention welcomes all undergraduate and alumnae Sisters to come together for educational and recreational workshops, events that focus on the empowerment, leadership, and philanthropy of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. Though each year the designated theme is different, the overall goal is to unite Sisters and keep them up-to-date with all Sorority related matters.

S.E.A. Formal

As a means of acknowledging the roles and accomplishments of our sisters, in May 1989, Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. began the tradition of our annual banquet (awards ceremony). This awards ceremony, which later became known as the annual Scholarship Excellence Awards Formal (S.E.A. Formal), is the most acclaimed celebration of the year; highlighting and recognizing the year's award recipients and showcasing a celebration like no other. It allows sisters from all regions to come together while enjoying the splendor of being part of our enchanting sisterhood. Through this celebration, we acknowledge monumental events taking place throughout the preceding year; honoring those Sisters who have gone above and beyond in the areas of academic and leadership accomplishments, as well as those who have demonstrated selfless dedication to provide service in their communities.

Mermaid's Marinade - Family Picnic

The Annual Mermaid's Marinade is held every August at a designated park chosen by the planning committee. The event was created to bring Sisters, friends and family together in a relaxed environment filled with food, games, activities, music and bonding. The committee decides a theme and communicates this to the organization; encouraging sisters to participate and join in on the fun. The event is free, unless otherwise advertised.

Mermaid Parade

Ever since 1983, Coney Island USA have been the master minds behind the Mermaid Parade.  This is the nation’s largest art parade to date.  The Enchanting Mermaids of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc., along with friends and family, have been active participants of the parade since 2009. Whether it is watching from the side lines, volunteering time to run the parade, or actually walking in the parade, you are sure to catch a glimpse of an Enchanting Mermaid that day.  Every year, all Enchanting Mermaids interested get “dressed up” according to the chosen theme of the year.  It is a day filled with constant laughs and wonderful memories.

For more information, visit the Coney Island USA website at www.coneyisland.com/mermaid.shtml.

Mermaid's Haven: Alumnae Retreat

Mermaids Haven is the name of the official Alumnae Retreat.  Celebrated every five years along with the national convention but to solely focus on the issues and lives of the alumnae of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. Mermaids Haven is a time to revive and reflect on the sanctity of what we hold sacred in the bonds of sisterhood.  As mermaids we want to retreat to a place deep in our turbulent waters where we can relax, unwind, and strengthen bonds between us. Haven is a part of a body of water protected and deep enough to be a place of safety for ships (in our case mermaids)…
